the HubSpot price increase: what changed, and what to do at renewal.
You probably arrived here holding the renewal email. The short version: HubSpot moved from per-product pricing to per-seat pricing in March 2024, its own announcement says existing customers see the uplift "at the time of subscription renewal" and sizes it at approximately 5% or less. That is the only percentage HubSpot publishes — anyone quoting you a bigger number is guessing. The levers below are the ones printed on HubSpot's own pages.
seats replaced per-product pricing in March 2024.
New customers went onto seat pricing on 5 March 2024. Existing customers keep their current pricing model "unless and until we contact you", in HubSpot's own words in its product catalog — there is no published end date for that grandfathering, and no published date on which your portal moves. So the honest answer to "am I getting the increase at this renewal?" is whatever your renewal email says, not a rule.
What HubSpot publishes about size: the announcement says customers may see a migration-related price increase of approximately 5% or less at the time of subscription renewal. Seat pricing also removed seat minimums on Sales and Service Hub for new customers, and added free view-only seats — some portals come out ahead.

what seats cost now, per month.
Billed annually, as published on HubSpot's own pricing pages. The promo figure is what the page shows today; the list figure is the struck-through price behind it.

Marketing Professional includes 3 core seats (extra seats from $45/mo); Marketing Enterprise 5 ($75/mo). The suite (Customer Platform) pages show Professional $1,300/mo with 6 seats and Enterprise $4,700/mo with 8; their onboarding fee was not published on the pages we read. HubSpot owes you 30 days of notice, and cannot raise mid-term.
HubSpot's terms of service (section 3.2) say fees can rise at renewal up to then-current list, and that HubSpot will notify you at least thirty days before your renewal. The same section says a fee cannot rise mid-term except overages, upgrades and add-ons. If a renewal notice arrived inside 30 days of the renewal date, that is worth saying in your reply — in writing.

the three levers that work, all on HubSpot's own pages.
- fact — annual prepay. Starter is published at $7/seat/mo on annual billing against $10 monthly, and the Professional gap between the shown and list price ($90 vs $100 a seat on Sales Hub) is the annual discount. If you are on monthly billing, moving to annual is the cheapest published cut.
- fact — the startup program. Venture-funded companies from pre-seed through Series A get 90% off year one, 50% off year two and 25% off year three on net-new Professional and Enterprise products; an approved entrepreneurial-organisation affiliation gets 30% / 15%. Eligibility and verification are on hubspot.com/startups. If you have never applied and you are venture-funded, this is the largest number on this page.
- fact — the downgrade path. Section 2.5 of the terms: no downgrade mid-term; it happens at renewal with a new order form. Moving Professional to Starter loses unlimited automation (10 actions), A/B testing, custom reporting and attribution, and cuts dashboards from 75 to 30. Worth pricing before the renewal, not after.
One thing that is negotiable rather than published: the one-time onboarding fee on Professional and Enterprise. It is mandatory in the published flow but it is a sales-side number, and asking for it to be waived or halved costs nothing. We mark that one an estimate — there is no HubSpot page promising it.
ten Sales seats at renewal.
Arithmetic on the published prices in the table above — not a quote, and not a negotiation outcome.
| scenario | first-year cost |
|---|---|
| 10 seats, list price, no action | $12,000 + $1,500 onboarding |
| 10 seats at the price shown today | $10,800 + $1,500 onboarding |
| same seats through the startup program, year one | $1,079 |
The startup-program row is 90% off the shown price, per hubspot.com/startups, and applies to net-new Professional products only — an existing portal does not qualify, which is exactly why it is worth asking before the renewal finalises.
we run the renewal for you, in writing.
Forward the renewal email and your last HubSpot invoice. The free audit names every line you are overpaying, with an annualized amount. The full audit, $299 once, gets a competing quote for your exact seat count and runs the thread with your HubSpot rep until there is an answer. If it does not identify at least $2,990/yr, we refund it in full.
